Posted December 19th, 2004 by Joel

Actually, I just noticed the comments are broken, but we’re leaving for the holidays soon and may not have time to fix it until we get back. So, in the meantime, as Douglas Adams wrote, sorry for the inconvenience.

UPDATE:
The comments are working again, so feel free.

Thanks to our friend Jerry Blanco for finding this.

Create your own country

Posted December 15th, 2004 by Thomas

If you ever started your own country, would you rule with an iron fist or let your citizens vote on issues? Now you can find out by creating your own nation state.

I created the Kingdom of Mozeland, a liberal democracy, or what the UN calls a “civil rights lovefest.”

Finding Neverland

This is a heartwarming and geniuinely emotional story about J.M. Barrie, the author the play Peter Pan, and his relationship with a family of three boys and their widowed mother. Johnny Depp turns in one of his more subtle performances as Barrie. And Freddie Highmore is a standout as the middle-child Peter Davies.

I highly recommend this film, especially for families during the holiday season.

Hopkins Has Been Found

Posted November 25th, 2004 by Joel

Okay, this is irrelevant to anything Moser, but it’s one of the most touching real-life things I’ve heard of in a while. It started off with flyers posted around Seattle, apparently from a boy who’d lost his frog Hopkins. The mysterious flyer made its rounds on the internet and quickly became a phenomenon.

Now it seems the writer of the flyer is an autistic teen. The frog was a toy frog, which he lost and was apparently important enough for the kid to make a ton of flyers and post them around the city.

Here’s a link. The first page is the actual flyer. Clicking on the image takes you into all the Photoshop art spawned from the enigmatic sign. The story is pretty touching. Are you ready to be touched? Well, okay then. HERE.

The full story is HERE.

Happy Thanksgiving!

From ‘Cut’ To ‘Cut And Paste’

Posted November 13th, 2004 by Joel

The Philadelphia Inquirer is running a piece on the advance of virtuality into cinema. Reading the opinions of Robert Zemeckis on one end of the spectrum and Brad Bird on the other, I can’t help but feel that they are both wrong.
